• Hold a good first degree together with a PhD in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification.
• A Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Academic Practice or membership of the Higher Education Academy
• Show experience of teaching curriculum development in a Higher Education environment.
  

The position is acquired via promotion, notably from Lecturer position, with evidence of performance in teaching and research, a major and sustained contribution in their field, and a national and emerging international profile. 

Candidates may be asked to submit a personal statement explaining how the criteria for promotion are satisfied and the future plans if promoted.

Senior Lecturer is the first established position in the UK academic system.
