Research Assistants are generally recruited at the level of Master. A PhD (or near completion) may be requested. Recruitment goes through applications published by Higher Education institutions. Then an interview with a panel of academics, project manager and principal investigator. 

• Status: a research assistant is employed in a funded research project with a fixed-term contract. He generally joins a multidisciplinary team.
• Duties: the postholder helps in data collection and conducts interviews under the supervision of the Principal investigator of the research project.
• Grades: grade 5 and 6 depending on the experience and qualifications of the post-holder.
• Salary range: £28,000 to £32,000 per annum
